I’ve written a few times in the past months about buying organic. I’ve shared the 12 Foods You Should Always Buy Organic, as well as a few tips for how to afford organic on my Juicing Momma blog.
But today, I want to discuss either buying organic for items that aren’t necessarily food or making them yourself, using organic ingredients. You may not have considered that a lot of products you bring into your home are also laden with pesticides and other dangerous chemicals. While I can’t say that we’ve 100% eliminated all of these in our home, it is a goal of mine.

Some things to consider buying (or making!) organic include:

  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Pet Food
  • Gardening Supplies
  • Soaps and Detergents
  • Skin Care and Make-up
  • Vitamins and Supplements
  • Cleaning Products

Two of my favorite online resources for purchasing these organic products are Amazon.com and Vitacost.com.

I also have begun using coconut oil and essential oils to make my own facial cleanser/moisturizer, toothpaste, and deodorant. There are tons of ideas on Pinterest for this. You can see my Pinterest boards for Coconut Oil and Essential Oils for ideas below. Just click on the images. I don’t imagine my life without either for a very long time.

Our vitamin supplements come from JuicePlus and Nordic Naturals, both of which I buy through my friend, Valerie.

There’s so much we cannot control, especially environmentally. Many of these things are causing major health issues, like my Lupus, for example. Every small change we can make in our diets and in our homes can help make a difference, not only in our longevity, but in the quality of life we’re living.

Ben and Me is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com. This site contains links from a number of other affiliate programs as well. If you click on these links and make a purchase, I may receive a commission. This does not cost you any more, and it helps cover costs associated with running the website. I am very picky about the products I recommend and the companies I support. I never recommend a product I would not use myself.
