If you’re anything like me, one of the first things you do after deciding which curriculum to use, is to begin creating reading lists for the homeschool year.
For many years, I have relied on several homeschool company websites for student reading lists, read-aloud selections, and the best literature selections for our history studies. I’ve rarely actually used the curriculum for any of these companies (not because they aren’t great, but because I just don’t use a lot of boxed curriculum), but I have been very grateful for the work they have all put into gathering the best of the best in book recommendations for their customers, and for me.
I want to give each of these companies a little shout-out today for two reasons:
They deserve some attention and gratitude from me for providing reliable lists of books that have because the staple of our homeschool, and . . .
I want to make sure you know about these resources for your own homeschool.
5 Homeschool Company Websites with Fantastic Reading Lists
Sonlight
Sonlight has long been known for their incredible literature selections. It was one of the first homeschool companies I became aware of when we first began contemplating homeschool. They make it super simple to find all of their literature selections with this readers page, divided by grade level. I also LOVE their catalog.
Tapestry of Grace (Lampstand Press)
Tapestry of Grace is a classical curriculum, so classic books are huge party of what they do. You can find all of their book selections at Bookshelf Central.
Veritas Press
When I’m on the search for great literature for history study (Ben’s passion), I click over to Veritas Press and peruse their recommendations. I’m never disappointed. Go ahead and order their catalog, too.
Beautiful Feet
Beautiful Feet is all about learning history through literature, so you’ll want to stop by their website for great selection in historical fiction and nonfiction. They have a nice online catalog to make it easy for you to see all they recommend, divided up by time period. They also have some great geography recommendations.
My Father’s World
My Father’s World is a little bit classical, a little bit Charlotte Mason, and a little bit unit study. Because of that, their literature recommendations encompass more than just history. There are books here for all subjects. This is one company we have used more than just the booklist, and again, I have not been disappointed with anything here. Search either according to grade level or historical time period. They also have a nice catalog.
